Reset the theme in WordPress

September 25, 2011 by: Sudheer

You may need to de-activate the current theme to gain the access to WordPress dashboard. You can reset the theme to the default theme by going to the phpMyAdmin. The default theme for latest versions of WordPress is ‘twentyten’. Make sure that the theme is existing in your account at: /wp-content/themes/

If theme is there, you can run the below query to reset the theme to ‘twentyten':

UPDATE wp_options SET option_value = ‘twentyten’ WHERE option_name = ‘template';
UPDATE wp_options SET option_value = ‘twentyten’ WHERE option_name = ‘stylesheet';
UPDATE wp_options SET option_value = ‘twentyten’ WHERE option_name = ‘current_theme';

You can change the ‘twentyten’ to any theme which is located in your themes folder.
